I Had to Jump In On This One…

Which animal would you compare yourself to and why?

Interestingly – I actually learned about an animal that I had never heard of before today. My apartment has a beautiful view of a small lake (more like a “cement pond” – if anyone reading this is old enough to recognize that throwback haha). I chose this apartment specifically because of the view. I do love to watch the water and the creative energy it ignites in me is magical.

In addition to the ducks and geese that make this little lake their home, I have noticed a couple of newbies have joined the party. I watched them over the last couple of days in complete wonder as I have been unable to identify exactly what kind of duck/bird creatures our visitors actually are. Well, thanks to amazing technology literally at my fingertips, Google lens was able to identify them via a picture I was able to take. It tells me that these birds are cormorants.

In researching these guys further, Google tells me that these birds are amazing divers. They have even been known to swallow rocks to help them dive further down in water! And not that I asked but Google also informed me that they have their own spot in the Bible in the book of Leviticus and were touted in those days to be “dirty birds”. Hmm – who knew?

It gets even more interesting – mainly found around saltwater (my little lake is not) and they will not be doing any diving here as you can literally see the bottom of this lake while standing on the side. Makes me wonder why they seem to be hanging out? Maybe taking a vacay from the Atlantic? I mean, I get it. I love the little lake too.

In terms of being a spirit animal, Cormorant symbolizes taking action, bravery, and resourcefulness. This regal bird knows exactly what it wants and how to get it.

Making their presence known at the cement pond 😆
