Everything being discovered and proven through neuroscience is fascinating to me! Facts (that weren’t yet proven facts) have been thrown around in the personal development world for years stating that our thoughts become our reality. We bring about what we think (and speak) about. If we want to change our lives, we must first change our thoughts. Everything is created twice. First in our mind, then in form. Have you heard these things before?
I was listening to a workshop given by Dr. Joe Dispenza, where he spells out all of the most recent findings by science through his work. A multitude of brain scans and research conducted on the coherence between the heart and the mind and the endless, true potential we have as human beings. We are co-creators of our lives and not just victims of circumstance or the product of bad nurturing.
I have been working with my clients for some time now helping them to realize that we can start from where we are now and literally be a new “creation” (of our choosing) six months from now. I did this with my own life and it is my life’s passion and purpose to help others do it too!
One thing he said, though – really made me think. He said that our inability (or more accurately unwillingness) to do anything about our current situation is because we are neurochemically “addicted” to the way things are. (Stay with me here). We are creatures of habit. Our brains are physiologically designed to change our repetitive actions (or thoughts) into habits to conserve energy availability by letting the subconscious mind handle these so our conscious mind can be ready and available for new information.
This is why you can leave work, get in the car, drive all the way home – without even thinking about it. Ever gotten to your house and thought, “geez, I barely remember the drive home” ? This is a primitive function of the brain that served us well when we had to be “at the ready” to run away from dinosaurs.
Did you know that our thoughts are the same way? They run in the background without us even knowing it or being “conscious” of them. And studies show that out of the 60,000ish thoughts we have in a day, 90% are the same thoughts as the day before. And we don’t even realize it!
So, if at some point, you began thinking “I am not smart enough”, that can be running in an endless loop in the background of your mind sabotaging your current new thought of “I want a better paying job”. Feel free to insert whatever limiting belief that may be holding you back currently. Is it any wonder we walk around with longings and discontent and feeling that this is just the way it is?
Let me point out the granddaddy of GOOD NEWS right here. Neuroplasticity! Science has now proven what all of us personal development junkies have been preaching for years now haha. We have the power!! We truly are co-creators! With the right effort and determination, we can literally form new neural pathways in our brains and become whatever (or whoever) we want to be. This is so exciting for people like me who spent half of their one-and-only life in self-destruction. I’m probably “a special case” lol but I cannot be the only one who woke up one morning and said “this has got to change!”
We are spiritual beings, having a human experience. And many of us deserve so much better than what we are accepting at the current moment. My hope and prayer is that it does not take others as long as it did me. You CAN start today, from right where you are – and have the life of your wildest dreams. Please don’t let fear and self-doubt tell you that it can’t happen. YOU HAVE THE POWER!!
You Are Worthy,
