Back to the Mirror

As a midlife woman entrepreneur, if you’ve ever said the words “nothing is technically wrong, so why do I feel like this?” – I need you to hear me.

Let’s go back to the mirror.

The one where I couldn’t find my reflection.

Because that is where most stories stop. In the ache. In the unraveling. In the dark part where the woman you used to be is gone, and the woman you’re becoming hasn’t fully arrived yet.

That is not where mine stopped. But I want to be honest about how long I stayed there.

For a while, I just sat with her. The woman who couldn’t pretend anymore.

That was the first thing that changed. I could not perform. Not even a little. Not even in rooms with people I’d known for years. Something in me had gone silent in a way that would not let me pick the costume back up.

I was tired.

Not the tired a nap fixes. The tired that comes from carrying a self that was never truly yours. Yes, I had made the choices, but in a way that felt like I had been borrowing information. My opinions didn’t feel like mine. My reactions didn’t feel like mine. My decisions somehow didn’t feel like mine. That’s the danger of a lifetime of living the way I was told I should. Of being who I was told I should be – even if the words were never spoken.

Some relationships evolved with me. Some just dissipated. I didn’t fight for either. I was too busy doing the actual work.

The excavation.

Slowly. Layer by layer. Finding out who I was underneath 23 years of being the steady one. Underneath the fixer. Underneath the woman who thought if she just learned more, stayed longer, stood stronger, she would finally feel like enough.

Some of it was age. Some of it was experience. Some of it was pure exhaustion.

But something else was happening too.

In Human Design, we are taught that our 40s cycle is where Spirit will shake you by the shoulders if you are not moving toward your purpose.

I was in that shaking. Actually, mine felt more like an earthquake.

And I did not know it at the time, but in the dark, in the mire, in the mirror with no reflection, my purpose was already there. Waiting patiently. Waiting for me to stop performing long enough to see it.

Nursing shaped me. It was fulfilling. It played its role. I don’t regret one shift.

But it is not why I survived.

I know that now, because of what happens in my body when I sit across from a midlife woman in her own unraveling.

Something in me ignites.

Like the whole 23 years, and the Thanksgiving shift, and the sleeping on the floor by my son’s crib, and the walking away, and the mirror with no reflection… all of it was tuition.

For this.

This is why I survived.

To lead women through the exact terrain I had just walked.

Which brings me to why I’m writing this now.

I am putting together a 12-week beta group coaching program called The Sacred Unraveling™ Intensive.

It blends the identity work of my six-month program, The Portal: Sacred Unraveling™, with the Human Design integration of my year-long Portal Accelerator. It is for the woman who is standing in front of the mirror right now and cannot find her reflection. The one who is tired of performing. The one who has already sensed that the version of her that got her here is not the one who leads her next. Even if she doesn’t have language for it yet, no one should be navigating it alone.

I am looking for 20 Founding Members.

You will help me shape the curriculum. You will be my case studies. You will be the pioneers who walk this terrain with me first, at a beta price, at a beta pace, at a beta intensity.

Intensity is the operative word.

This is not gentle content delivery. This is excavation. If you have been circling this work for a while and you know something has to give, you already know if this is you.

If you feel the pull of your legacy work, but every time you try to move forward you are thwarted by conditioning. It is exhausting to be at war with yourself.

I see the weight you carry –the uninvited, 2:00 AM realization that you are the bottleneck in your own dream. It’s painful to look in the mirror and see a woman who is capable, experienced, and brilliant, yet find yourself “spinning” over a simple social media post.

You are not failing; you are simply operating on an outdated “internal operating system.” The survival mechanisms that once protected you in boardrooms and corporate structures have now become the bars of a cage.

The shame you feel – the self-blame for not being “disciplined enough” – is misplaced. It’s not a lack of willpower; it’s a misalignment of who you think you need to be to stay safe versus who you actually are.

You are grieving the woman you used to be while trying to birth the woman you are becoming, and that transition is the hardest work you will ever do. You deserve the grace to realize that your “business problems” are actually just your soul asking for a new identity.

The Priority List is open.

Being on the priority list doesn’t obligate you to anything. It just means you’re first to hear when the details are finalized. If you see yourself in my story and you are ready to shed the costumes and release the programming you didn’t ask for, I invite you to jump on the list here.

Your business problems aren’t business problems; they are identity conflicts. You are trying to build a new future using the habits of the person you are trying to leave behind.

We don’t just change your strategy; we change your evidence.
We are living in one of the greatest shifts in human history, and your legacy work is waiting. Be the first to know here.

With truth, fire, and deep belief in your becoming,
Coach Shannon
