They’re Calling It the “Ugly 40s.” I Think They’re Looking at It All Wrong.

The most sacred season of a woman entrepreneur’s life deserves a better name.

Apparently we’ve found a new label.

“The Ugly 40s.”

That’s what social media has started calling the strange, disorienting season so many women experience in midlife.

The season where…

  • The career stops fitting.
  • The marriage changes.
  • The children need you differently.
  • The business you’ve secretly dreamed of building begins calling louder than the life you’ve carefully built.

The season where you wake up one morning and ask yourself:

“Whose life have I been living?”

First, we called it a midlife crisis.

Now we’re calling it ugly.

Friend…

I don’t believe it’s either.

I Think We’ve Been Measuring the Wrong Thing

We’ve been looking at this season through the lens of what a woman appears to be losing.

Confidence.

Direction.

Certainty.

Identity.

But what if we’re measuring the wrong thing?

What if this season isn’t about what she’s losing…

What if it’s about what she’s finally unwilling to lose?

Herself.

That question changes everything.

The World Is Finally Catching Up

Something remarkable is happening.

Women are becoming one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs.

Not because they’re chasing another title.

Not because entrepreneurship suddenly became trendy.

And not because we are rebelling against the rocking chair.

Because more women are finally deciding:

“If I’m going to work this hard…

I want it to mean something.”

They’re building businesses that reflect their values.

Their lived experience.

Their intuition.

Their truth.

From the outside, it looks like entrepreneurship.

I think it’s something infinitely deeper.

I think it’s identity.

The Sacred Middle

The internet calls it confusion.

I call it The Sacred Middle.

It’s the place where the old identity has loosened its grip…

And the new one hasn’t fully emerged.

It’s uncomfortable.

Messy.

Sometimes lonely.

It asks you to question everything.

Not because we’re capricious, or broken, or lost, or “in crisis”.

Because we’re becoming honest.

Dare I say, we are awakening.

The Sacred Middle isn’t a place to rush through.

It’s a place to go within and listen.

Because beneath the uncertainty is often the first authentic voice we’ve heard in years.

We Keep Trying to Fix the Wrong Problem

The personal development world spent years telling women they had a mindset problem.

Then the conversation shifted.

Now we’re told it’s a nervous system problem.

Again…

Closer.

But I still think we’re stopping one layer too soon.

Your nervous system isn’t betraying you.

It’s protecting the identity that carried you this far.

The real question is:

What happens when that identity has completed its assignment?

Because no amount of mindset work can make an expired identity feel alive again.

And no amount of nervous system regulation can convince your soul to keep living a life it has already outgrown.

This Isn’t Reinvention

This is where I lovingly part ways with so much of the conversation happening right now.

Everyone is talking about reinvention.

  • Future self.
  • Next chapter.
  • Rediscovering yourself.

Beautiful ideas.

Incomplete process.

Because before you can become…

Something has to unravel.

The achiever.

The peacekeeper.

The good-girl director.

The approval-seeker.

The perfectionist priestess.

The woman who learned to earn love by being indispensable.

The version of you who survived by becoming exactly who everyone else needed.

She deserves gratitude.

Not shame.

She got you here.

But she was never meant to carry you forever.

Maybe This Is Bigger Than One Woman

I’ve spent decades studying neuroscience, trauma, behavioral psychology, spirituality, and Human Design.

Each discipline offers a different explanation for what we’re witnessing.

Some call it a psychological transition.

Some call it cultural evolution.

Some describe it as a shift toward greater self-awareness and internal authority.

If I’m being honest, the explanation matters less to me than the evidence.

Women everywhere are asking questions they weren’t asking ten years ago.

“Whose life am I living?”

“Why doesn’t success feel the way I thought it would?”

“Why do I feel called toward something I can’t explain?”

Whether you explain that through psychology…

Culture…

Spirituality…

Or simply the natural evolution of being human…

Something is changing.

And I don’t think it’s happening to just a handful of women.

I think we’re watching an entire generation remember that they were never meant to abandon themselves in order to belong.

For Centuries…

For centuries…

Success belonged to the woman who could adapt to the system.

The woman who could fit in.

Keep going.

Carry more.

Need less.

Stay quiet.

Be grateful.

Be agreeable.

Be everything to everyone.

But I have a feeling…

The next era belongs to the woman who can adapt back to herself.

Who trusts the wisdom of her own body.

Who measures success by congruence instead of applause.

Who stops asking for permission to become the person she has always been underneath the performance.

That isn’t rebellion.

It’s remembrance.

The Portal Was Built for This Moment

This is why I created The Portal: Sacred Unraveling™.

Not because women need another course.

Another summit.

Another workbook.

Another expert telling them who to become.

Another guru preaching a framework from a pedestal.

The Portal: Sacred Unraveling™ exists because there comes a moment when information has done everything it can do.

The next step isn’t collecting more knowledge.

It’s finding a guide who understands the sacred work of identity recalibration.

Someone who can help you understand that what feels like falling apart…

May actually be the most honest (and most liberating) thing that’s ever happened to you.

This isn’t about fixing yourself.

It’s about returning to yourself.

An Open Invitation

So if you’ve been looking in the mirror lately and wondering:

“What is wrong with me?”

May I lovingly offer another possibility?

Nothing.

Nothing is wrong with you.

You are not confused.

You are not having a crisis.

You are not entering your “Ugly 40s.”

You are standing in one of the most profound thresholds of your life.

The old identity has brought you as far as she could.

Now she’s asking to rest.

And the woman underneath?

She’s been waiting very patiently.

If these words felt less like something you read…

And more like something you remembered…

I’d love to invite you into a conversation.

Not because I have your answers.

But because I’ve walked this threshold myself.

And I’ve dedicated my life’s work to guiding women across it with clarity, compassion, and deep reverence.

Because there is nothing ugly about becoming yourself.

There never was.

With truth, disruption, and unwavering belief in the woman beneath the roles,
